Nathalie Joachim

Nathalie, Brooklyn born Haitian-American, is hailed for being “A fresh and invigorating cross-cultural voice” (The Nation).  Nathalie has performed and recorded with an impressive range of today’s most exciting artists and ensembles, including Miguel Zenón, Bryce Dessner, and the International Contemporary Ensemble. As a composer, Joachim is regularly commissioned to write for instrumental and vocal artists, dance, and interdisciplinary theater, often highlighting her unique electroacoustic style. Recent work includes collaborations with the St. Louis Symphony, Roomful of Teeth, So Percussion and Boston Lyric Opera.

We became admirers of Natahalie when we learned about her debut album Fanm d’Ayiti. An amazing collection of songs deeply connected with her Haitian roots. Before we asked Nathalie to be part of Mikrokosmos, we performed several other pieces from her in our concerts and on TV. Have a listen and be sure to check out her album Fanm d’Ayiti as well!
