Joey Roukens writes the first piece of our Mikrokosmos. The first musical statement. The idea for this piece came right after we recorded another of Joey’s songs: Unleashed. That work was not originally written for Fuse. In fact, it came from leftover material taken out of his first String Quartet. That music was so energetic, so out-there, so bold. We were blown away by this piece and we knew right away that Joey had to write the opening of our Mikrokosmos. You can listen to Unleashed here.
“It was my dream to ever play music written by Joey especially for my own group. Since I played his capriccio for violin solo on my bachelor exam this dream has been snoozing in the back of my head. So when we started the idea of Mikrokosmos he was the first composer to pop up in my mind.’
